Funny how, being French myself, I've heard so many versions of this song, and the only one that truly captures its beauty, for me, is sung by a Japanese singer. It's simple, voice and piano, but it's so effective. Thank you so much for this video that brought tears to my eyes. Merci :)

@thecelticspirit I was looking for the best version of this to add to my playlists. Other versions sounded very sad. You are so correct about the beauty captured in this version! And I learned of this song from a friend in Greece! My 700 playlists 'sont l'histoire de la musique'. I added this 1866 song to my Music of 1860s playlist. I have 112 lists for every year since 1900 & slowly add older songs as I find them. á la prochaine . . . chuck
