Very good. If only my stats lecturers were as good at explaining this as you are.

I thought when you described the total area under the mountain and above the rectangle made by the X and Y axis implied volume quite clearly. orignet is just being pedantic.

let's not be ridiculous. I was just making a point that this explanation is in fact false it is not the area under the graph but it is the volume. It is important to understand that especially if you are studying double integrals. The right interpretation of things is as important as the technique to use them. if your interpretation ins wrong your conclusions are wrong and your computations are useless.

It must suck to go through life trying to find faults in others. I'm sure you can count on one hand the number of people who would admit to loving you.

do you? do you really?..

thank you very much. You make the abstract concept become approachable.

stop being a donkey, we all know what he meant.

thanks, man
your explaination is false. it's not the area under the surface but the volume under the surface that caracterizes the probability that x and y are jointly less than certain values.

calling the explain "false" is a little melodramatic ...but yes thank you I should have said volume instead of area ... i trust it doesn't invalidate the whole thing :)
