Sorry, I know it is hard to hear what I am saying as my amazon pair decided they wanted to show me they could talk louder than I can!!

Bozo and Shasta ,our Caique pair will lay their first egg of the year very soon. Can you see the egg shape on Momma's belly? She seems to "carry" her first egg forever before she lays it!! I saw the beginnings of this "baby bump" over 10 days ago!!

  • thats so sweet how he protects her like that. and when he walks away from her she doesnt take long to catch up to him. such beautiful birds!

  • @hunnixox13 Yes, they are a very bonded couple and work together well when raising a family. I saw them mating this week so I suspect we will have eggs coming soon.

  • Rita,

They are beautiful.... I do see a bump :)

Do you usually notice the bump in all your breeder girls?

    Very handsome couple!!!

  • I'm glad you see the bump. Jeze started out just like that. :-)

I don't see the bump on most momma birds because most moms stay in the nest box a few days b4 they start laying. Shasta wants to spend as much time frolicking w/ Bozo before she starts sitting on her eggs..... so I see her bump.

  • He's very protective isn't he:)

  • oh yeah......he doesn't let anyone near his woman!!

  • I love the protective "prowl" LOL.

  • You're right - he would rip you to shreds! That was very aggressive behavior. I hope Skipper and Ginger don't get any ideas and Skipper get like that! But I don't think that happens if they are pets and bond with humans. I still have a lot to learn.

  • IIsn't he being protective because he knows you're going to take their babies?

  • the big eyed one who is bugging out must be the father.

  • @rita191919 aw, cant wait. :)

  • I just stumbled across this one when watching the Jenday video. Never seen a mama bird with a bump before. Bozo is funny!
