  • Thanks for the comments. There were many magic moments with the Balls.

There are half a dozen Balls tracks on a CD Called Benzedrine Beat by Half a Cow records. Some tracks are a bit hairy but the energy is there.

    Cheers, Mick

  • The 2006 gig with Lobby was a Purple Hearts Reunion. It has become a bit confusing as Lobby pinched the CBs name and took it to Melbourne - god bless im.

The Melbourne CBs commenced around 1972 at the demise of the Brisbane CBs. It was a completely different band.

Its a classic balls up! Love youse all, Mick

  • The Brisbane Coloured Balls were heavily influenced by Jethro Tull as we had a flute player. Jethro Tull were the creators of the song and all credit to them, we just rearranged it a little.

    Cheers, Mick

  • HOLY SHIT!!! this is an amazing version!!

  • Dear Toecutter,

Thank you for your kind remarks - we are so lucky this clip was saved from the video obliterater at our local TV station.

    Cheers for now,

    Mick Hadley

  • Saw the Balls many times including the last ever gig at Sound Machine in Elizabeth Street. I think it was Doug Parkinson who was the main act on the night and the first thing he said was "How can we possibly follow that". Great band! Thanks for the memories.

  • @leeenfieldsmle

Pete Miles is still playing in London. What a great band this was. Very tough in Joh's QLD to play any kind of music back then.

  • Pure nostalgia, Mick. I remember watching you guys at Mothers I think it was in Turbot St Brisbane every Friday night. I remember you doing Zepplin covers too,Dazed and Confused, Good Times Bad Times etc from their first album. You were a major influence in my own(brief) band experience. BTW my son played drums for you recently before you gave it away. Where is Peter Miles now?

  • @mickhadley

Hi Mick saw you and the Balls, with Lobby at Waterloo Hotel in Fort Valley about 5 years. Great night, yes agree Jethro Tull were a great band, saw them 3 times when they were at top of their game and used to tour Oz.

  • im thinking this was before Jethro tull right?

  • Absolutely Brilliant.! So many memories. Still one of my favourite songs after 40 years! Love it. Lorraine from Brisbane
