Socialism isn't necessarily a bad thing. Everyone pitches in and everyone gets an equal share. They teach you that in kindergarden. The problem is when you pitch in more than everyone else, you get less than what you put in. If you put in less than everyone else, you get more. Why should anyone who works hard for their success agree to that? Communism is what's bad. A few people take everything in and distribute it how they see fit. That's an over simplification, but it's how I understand it.
