Never mind! I found the answers to my questions at mods.dk - the FREQ readout and Ru unlock (easy mods). I had to look hard - it wasnt as easy to find as usual. I am suprised that this rig is not more popular - FREQ display is a huge advantage. I have one of these rigs on order now! :)

Also, how is the ru and px modification performed? is it the "white wire" mod that I have seen on other midland rigs?
-
Hi mate - Nice video. Can you tell me how you select FREQ readout rather than the Channel number? I am a licenced HAM, and I want one of these to monitor 29.600 in the mobile. I cant find the information on how this radio can be modified anywhere!?. Thanks in advance!

but like I said to you john mate go to the amateur radio local club first have a look around and the'll show you what it's all about you'll really like it as well that's what I did I took my licence in 2001 and we was the very first batch of M3's to take the cause in the whole of the {UK} and to be honest I've never looked back since it getts you off the C.B I done it because of the abuse I was getting constantley on the C.B all the time in liverpool the c.b is full of tossers so that's really.

G5RV wire di-pole antenna and that goes from 1.8mhz to 30mhz and I've tryed it with my c.b going through a ATU and VSWR was 1.0 and have had many good contacts on it and it is only 5 foot off the floor and have got DX so what do you think of that? great or what anyhow I'll let you go and hope to speke to you very soon good videos you've done and have fun with those c.b radios and one thing stay on the 27mhz and not 28mhz that's a amateur radio band and not c.b just letting you know 73's stephen.

Stephen, As well as a couple of yagi''s I use a doublet on HF with 450 ohm twin feeder and 60' either side at the feedpoint - 120 feet overall. It's pretty on all bands up to 10 meters. It's ok on top band (160m) but I'd prefer it to be longer. If you check out some of my other posts you'll see some of the HF gear. 73s Jon

shakesphere army big stick 1600 it's 21 foot long a 5/8 wave and has 12.5dbd gain and can go from 26mhz-29.7mhz very useful antenna too as I'm also a amateur radio operater too and I have a astatic echomax 2000 desk microphone for the 3 radios because there all cybernet bords and accept the same microphone which is a blessing I think too. And last of all I've got a YAESU FT-857D for my ham radio useage and a sharmans multicom X30 colinier for the 2/70 and a fullsize

Enjoy, that 857 it's a smashing rig - I use a 706 Mk2G for mobile operation. Main band is 10m and I tend to monitor 29.600FM - still waiting for some sunspots though .. hi hi 73s Jon
