Replacing the bearings on my Boat Trailer hub. I did this video so if i have to fix my trailer bearings on the road i could look up my video to help me remember how to repair it. I have no experience fixing trailers.
I call it a cookie-cutter, but no one ever knows what the hell i'm talking about- no one bakes their own cookies any more.. don't hurt yrslf- just put the hub back in the wheel with 1 or 2 nuts, grab a claw hammer and yank that damn seal out with a neat flick of the wrist- especially if someone's watching... you don't have to measure stuff- if its a tubular axle 4 or 5 bolt, its all the same shit. if its a solid axle dico or hadco, its time to spend! salt water is a trailer guy's job security.
Luck you didn't have to change the race which the bearings ride on in that video. that is the hardest part! thin round steel rings that are pressed in. you have to knock them out and press in new ones i did all that in the rain on the side of the highway at 4 am. 2 nights ago.. i used the inside line on highway as my work bench with a Coleman liquid gas lantern. oh what a fun night. lol. left my boat near sabastion inlet .fl. drove 40 miles home to get tools .
THANKS GOOD HOW TO HUBS. I AM 3/4 INTO A COMPLETE OVER HAUL OF MY 2004 BOAT TRAILER I HAVE REPLACED ALL Galvanized BOLTS, WASHERS, NUTS, BOARDS, CARPET, ETC. I WAS ABLE TO SALVAGE THE EXPENSIVE U BOLTS AND HARDWEAR. I WIRE WHEELED THEM AND APPLYED COLD Galvanized SPRAY. I JUST STARTED ON THE HUDS TODAY THIS WILL HELP ALOT, BEEN AWHILE SINCE I DID A HUB. SALT WATER IS VERY MEAN TO OUR BOAT TRAILERS HERE IN SOUTH mISSISSIPPI.
the races in my hub are frozen inside.. any ideas on getting them out?
