Short doc for my Urban Studies class.

Assignment: Choose a subject relevant to urban studies and compare and contrast between two time periods.

I chose 1950's America and their vision of the future of transport and compared it with today.

I couldn't cover as much as I initially wanted to. In the video I talk about a car-less future. I honestly don't think we will give up the car but I wanted to include it because I thought it would be an interesting contrast.

I believe the best alternative to gasoline burning cars is electric.

Thanks for watching.

  • Sounds like Bleeding-Heart Liberal Environmental-whack-o crap.

  • @southwriter I agree. Could you be more specific? Was it the part about hydrogen not being a viable fuel source, public transportation eliminating congestion in cities. I realize I might have been reaching out of objectivity a bit when I said that the days of the gasoline burning car are numbered, but it's a fact, there is no infinite supply of oil. Please let me know

  • @clv4nz Hydrogen is far too volitile for a fuel source. And, you're right- gasoline won't last forever. All resourses on this earth are finite, no matter what we do, they will all evetually run out. But, I think the American Left uses scare tatics for political posturing ONLY. They don't have any more alternatives than anyone else. But, with gas prices soaring, drilling in Alaska and other parts of the coast would bring gas prices way down (as well as repealing the Bill Clinton gas tax).

  • @southwriter That's mainly what I was trying to say in the video, that there really aren't any good options out there. Aside from production and the explosive nature of Hydrogen, there's the problem of storing it for long periods. The hydrogen atoms are so small that they seep out of pretty much anything you put them in. As for gas prices, I'm pretty sure they're on the up and up and things like drilling aren't going to make gas companies charge less. At least that's my impression of the situat.

  • Great compilation of clips.

  • @ngbarnett thanks! The research was the biggest part of the project

  • nice work! do you have a playlist for the music you used?

  • @jste77 you're a retard

  • no one wants to take the smelly public bus. there are too many lowlife's using public transit. you get stabbed, shot, robbed, or beaten up using public transit. i'm happy to be alone in my car, where i am in total control.

  • I really like your quote the future will look like the past

  • It turns out pretty good at the end. Check out "A Streetcar named denial" on youtube.
