Wally is an Australian Terrier (Benayr R Walkabout Wally CD, RE, CGC). He turned 5 Jan 2010. Aussies have yorkies in their background but are much large and they have the coarst terrier coat.
Wally is distractable even for a terrier - and they are normally very distracted by things. He is, however, my dream dog. We work very hard on attention, focus and self control.
Good luck with your Yorkie - we had a Yorkie before we got Wally. (I'm signed in as Spin2Weave which is my other site.)
I would love to be able to use the ball as a reward - but with the red ball in particular, ALL thought process ceases and training ends. Long story, and yes, I am working on it all the time, but if I want to train can't be done with a ball.
I use a tennis ball on occasion, but even when one of "those" is present in training the mind simply won't focus. I have done lots of control work - but while Wals may exhibit self control on the outside, the inside is BALL MUSH and brain is gone.

Just realized that RallyJudge posted while signed in to my other sight - Spin2weave. Those are my comments on the red ball - sorry, Ruthie.
