I'm agree that today USA need more uncensored news. But in 80's only way to get truth for communistic word was only Radio Free Europe. All TV, radio, newspapers was censored in my country and USSR too. Communistic ideology was more worst that nowadays liberalism. Could Yoy watch film "The Soviet Story" at Youtube and try understood what was communism for us - people that lived in this horrible world. Best regards

Much of that project was run with private funds, during the 60's I frequently heard commercials in America asking for donations to "Radio Free Europe"
I suppose this is the venture they were referring to
They should have pointed those antennas back at the USA, it seems were now the ones in need of uncensored news, maybe some common sense too!

Creo que no tenia sentido mantener en pie unas antenas que habian dejado de emitir en 2001. Volvemos a tener una playa sin antenas y creo que eso merece el derribo.

I'd forgotten just how awesome this old site was and all the lines BETWEEN towers since this video clip INTRODUCED me to You Tube, before Google came along. It was the best introduction to any medium I've had, before or since.
Such a glorious demise, though sad and one always badly regrets losing such equipment. Bravo!

Remember that when I was child I really often with my father listened to Radio Free Europa which was transmitted by this site. It was only one way to learning about realy situation in my country. All goverment radio and television stations in Poland told only lies at this communistic sad time. Pals antennas sended us the voice of hope from free world. We never forget it.
