This is a recipe I conjured up because I didn't like other recipes for Potatoes Au Gratin I had found. They all required you to dirty many dishes by making some complicated sauce, and were not nearly cheesy enough for my tastes.

I recently made this for family and friends around Xmas and it was a big hit. My mom wanted the recipe, so I figured I'd show her. Her favorite singer is Elvis, hence some of the music.

  • this looks so good, but i hate touching cut onions cause the smell doesnt wash off and i smell them in my sleep. :(

  • Yea I hate that too, but I love the taste too much to omit them! You could try using disposable latex gloves or supposedly, rubbing your hands on stainless steel under water like soap takes the smell away. Or getting one of those onion choppers makes it quicker and you don't have to touch them as much. :)

  • I like the idea you've presented, but you also presented a numerous amount of kitchen hazards. I'm sure Walmart sells cutting boards. Your fingers should have been curled around the vegetables as you cut them. I was afraid you were going to cut yourself any minute. Why sour cream? If you're after ricotta, why not use it? The sour cream would be good blended with the potatoes because all it it was curdle.

  • you should leave the skin on and wash them because thats where the vitamen layer is and i recomend red skins more fiber and less starch witch = sugar in the blood system same thing with onions always use red skins it does not break down as sugar in the blood system thanks for the great resipe 5 stars !!!
