Here is WFUN, a pirate radio station. The announcer "Neil Down" is decidely from New YAWK and is probably transmitting with a detuned Heathkit 160 meter ham transmitter and a 300W heater. Aircheck recorded from far Northeast Philadelphia. The signal is marred by the pirate's low-power and a navigation beacon on the same frequency. This was years before the AM broadcast band was extended to 1700 kHz. I called the station during one of their sporadic late-night 1981 - 82 broadcasts and "Manhattan" showed up on my phone bill. This aircheck is on or about March 7, 1982. Please comment if you know anything else about this station.
