There was a thud from upstairs that made me pull my eyes away from little Frankie. He turned his head as I did and looked up the stairs. I saw as he moved for the stairs and into my room. I turned back to Kevin and then faced the stairs, knowing that getting Frankie back was more important.
I raced up the stairs after my poor little brother, he had no idea what was going on up there and if I didn't get him back then the weird dream I'd somehow had all those nights ago, may just come true, I may never see him again. I rushed to my room and stood by my bed and looked round the little corner that hid everything away. The door was open, 'Frankie you silly little boy' I thought to myself, I gathered up all of my thoughts, and walked through, Macey may have said to stay here, but I couldn't leave my little brother up there on his own. I moved forwards, and closed the door behind me. I put on a brave face and climbed the stairs slowly but surely I knew I had to do something, even if I wasn't entirely sure what it was. I stood at the top of the stairs looking out into the room, looking as Macey stood, face to face with Joe, or.. I'll leave it as Joe. I saw Frankie cowered in the far corner, he looked so frightened. I moved quickly to comfort him, I pulled him into my chest to try and reassure him, make him feel safe, but he was just so frightened he shivered in my arms.
There was a loud crash, and as I went to look up, a bright light fell over the room, it was almost blinding, I covered Frankie, to protect his weak eyes and, just in case anything decided to throw itself in our direction.
The heat from the light was so intense that if there weren't little holes in this room's walls I'm pretty sure we'd have all roasted inside. I kept hold of Frankie, I didn't know how we were all going to explain this to him. Out of nowhere, I felt myself pulled from Frankie and thrown across the room, towards where the light was coming from.
'Frankieeeee!' I screeched as I hit the wall opposite, I laid listening, not bothering to try and keep my eyes open, I just listened to the sounds echoing around the room.
There wasn't anything, no sounds at all, until I heard Frankie's high scream, he sounded desperate. I tried moving, but it felt as if something, or someone was holding me in my place, I knew I couldn't stay here, I knew I had to help out my little brother, I had to save him. I had to, after all, he was the kindest of us all, he hadn't ever been rude to anyone in the family, he loves everyone, and I knew he'd grow up to be the nicest gentleman. So long as I can save his little butt.
I tried once again, I pushed off from the ground, nothing. I tried again and again, until it felt as if I couldn't anymore. I told myself, one more try and there I give up. I pushed I hauled, I made the weirdest of sounds, but I'd made it to my feet, it felt as if I was pulling something ten times my weight across the room with me as I moved, until I got to the centre of the room, and then I was pulled sideways, towards the stairs.
'FRANKIE YOU'LL BE OKAY!' I screamed last, and I was at the top of the stairs, holding on for my life, the stairs had disappeared, there was just a drop, I held on to the bar that still stood. I knew I wasn't getting back up there, but I just wasn't ready to give up, I tried everything until my arms gave way and my hands became too slippery. I fell, until I hit the ground below, and then, silence, darkness, everything I'd hated came over me and took me under. This was it, I was at peace, and I was ready to go along with it.
