  • If you know about the history of the N.A. people you know we were scattered by travels (to find jobs) and war, the white man, which is apart of us also.We are a people of many names and people (Red, Black, White) now and we cant forget that either, to deny one is to deny all. But to deny someone their heritage, or to think you know what one has been through, just because they arent apart of your community is very hurtful to those of us that have lived a life of not even knowing what we were.

  • The man speaking about Heather Locklear not being a Lum...this is part of the reason the Native American people was destroyed. Its incredibly sad to know that all Native Americans, whether Cherokee, Chickasaw etc, couldnt put their differences aside and ban together as a whole to fight those who intended to destroy them as a whole. The blood that flows through our veins...this country has torn us apart, dont continue to do the same to those wanting to find their hidden past.

  • @nigelholland3 Well, I would say that the Appalachian dialect comes more from the speaking of Elisabethton English. You could say that the way a 4 year old speaks English isn't bad English but rather "cultural diversity". The reality is that most people speaking AAVE are speaking English on a very rudimentary level because of poor schooling. There is no such thing as "standard" English you are either speaking English that is intelligible and doesn't make you sound like a retard or not.

  • @nigelholland3 Such as? Thats definitely not the Southern dialect, thats poor English and ebonics.

  • @nigelholland3 Enjoy all those White contributions and inventions.

  • So if you want to speak Lumbee, just speak shitty English.

  • @c7standard You are also probally unaware of the native side of the people, Lumbee is NOT are real tribe name...it was given to us by the English, so by you using the Lumbee name is you doing what the English tell you, Lumbee is Iroquian Tuscarora mostly with some of the Croatoan and other algonkian coastal tribes...and then you also have the Siouan cheraw. Lumbee is just a false label given to us by the English.

  • @c7standard Ok you defiently have zero teachings of the Lumbee history...and speaking in the way you do is not helping any of our NC causes....We are a mixed people....thats white, black, and native...actually the native blood being the weakest of these...but our heritage is strong....you speaking the way you do is insulting and attacking your own ancestors..we are a tri-racial people...i'm kinda thinking your not a real Lumbee because of how you are speaking.

  • I swanny Im straight up LUM. Straight up Burnt "Pocasin" hurrrr.

  • @83LV10Ram, you should be ashamed of yourself. Do you realize, these are people who have been oppressed for a very long time. Forced into Indian normal schools. I'm an attorney, I'm lumbee, and I grew up hearing this everyday and still speak like this around my family.
