Tutorial Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Tutorial Program: Adobe Photoshop CS4 (not specific to CS4 - you can use any image editing program you want)

- How to make a photo manipulation (Part 1) -

We're making photo manipulation out of 4 separate photos in photoshop. We'll be using the board from the last tutorial so go ahead and watch that one if you haven't already (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O9PgoR49YE). This tutorial is in 2 parts so make sure to view the 2nd part as well.

Part 1 - We bring the ropes and board into the dog image and use layer masks to hide the rope (behind the dog and board).

  • awesome tnx man!

  • @kinghustla187 you're welcome

  • it won't let me drag and drop...

  • @CursedExileUnltd If you're inside the working PS document, hold down the "alt" ("option" key on Mac). If you're dragging from one PS doc to another, In PS CS4, make sure the layer is unlocked and then press "v" (to get the move tool). Click and hold on the selected layer (image - not on the layers panel) and drag that layer to your other tab and hold over that tab until it switches. Then place your mouse over the document and release the mouse button.

  • Sorry but that looks bad. The shadow on the rope is all wrong. It just looks weird.

  • @kitty3309 Hi. Thanks for your honest assessment of the tutorial. This was constructed for 3, 10 minute sections and in my haste, I decided that it would be ok for beginners to use it. Obviously you can use a different rope (& if you're advanced enough) remove and create your own shadow/rope. My tutorials are focused towards those beginning in PS. I hope that in the future I can have a tutorial geared for you and other advanced users...thanks.
