Burwood Festival - The first festival was held to celebrate Burwood's centenary year in 1974 and became an annual event in 1985.
At the age of 16 I had the pleasure to participate in this first festival as one of the cadets in the St John Ambulance Brigade contingent in the parade.
My father used his Super 8 film camera and filmed 2 reels of film (some 6 mins) to record this event. Obviously it was silent film as sound on home movie cameras was non existent at that time.
In 2002 I converted this film to video tape and have today digitised it and put it online. Technology has moved forward and today even better conversion/film scanning techniques are available and I hope to get the original Super 8 film re-scanned in higher quality in the near future.
I hope you enjoy this short piece of visual history.
