Haahaaaa, he's staring down that treat during 'leave it' like it's gonna get up and run away! What a fantastic dog! You've obviously spent a lot of time and patience working with him. Nice work!

@smalltimeroller That popping sound is a training clicker. It's really annoying in this video, I know. Didn't realize it would be before we shot it. But it's a great training tool. It's used to mark when the dog does the behavior that you want — the same as saying "yes!" or "Good dog!" But because it's always the same, whereas your voice has different tones all the time, it's easier for the dog to learn.

Now, i have a partially deaf Basset hound/English Foxhound, he knows sit, stay, and paw pretty well. But there are some things that he dosen't know and it's been a hard time training him in some areas. He's just about 7 months old. Do you have any suggestions? Everyone please like this so he see's. thanks.

@Aial1254 I totally understand. Both of Saggio's parents are AKC registered purebred German shepherds. Saggio does have a lighter coat than a lot of GSDs, that's true. But he's still 100 percent GSD.

@NSkylineGTRR35 Thanks for explaining that. Yeah, both of Saggio's parents are AKC registered purebred GSDs, and Saggio is a registered purebred as well.
At what age did you start training and roughly how long does it take before you don't have to use the clicker and treats?

@hsbutoy I started training Saggio the day we got him, at 8 weeks. He learned sit, come and down in one day. Some people use the clicker and treats always. We've moved away from it, now that he has the basics of learning down, and don't use either for our general obedience. But for more fun-oriented tricks, like he does in this video, it's still really useful.
