  • "messier was the best leader but hands down yzerman's the best captain ther is, ther was, and ther ever will be"

what does that even mean? DOH!

  • I think he may mean that Messier was able to assume a leadership role even when he wasn' t the captain. Now I'm not totally sure about this but I don't think Messier served as captain for all of the Oiler cup vitories in the 80s? I would love to see a good Messier vs Yzerman debate here. Both amazing leaders and I personally have an Yzerman preference. I feel that while messier was in Edmonton he was surrounded by a stud team that didn't require his leadership... thoughts?

  • Burnaby "Joe" Sakic was better than Yzerman.

  • go wings !!!

  • terrible song. plus it doesn't even fit the content.

  • jaredmellow you really need to change the song.

  • I learned everything there is to know about being a hockey player watching that man in the 2002 playoffs

  • the worst fucking tribute song ive ever heard

  • My favorite memories of Yzerman were watching him play on an injured knee in the 02 playoffs. Even on one leg, he was still our best player. Very inspiring.

  • @fourgladiators DUDE! Howe is Mr. Hockey! lol

  • Yzerman wasn't dirty like Messier, because he didn't have to be....which speaks volumes as how great he was. Much respect to Mark for being a great player and leader, but Yzerman was a superior.

  • The way i see it, Messier was a great captain, and he really helped the Rangers to that cup win. But he never joined a team like the Red Wings, who at that point were one of the worst teams in the league, Yzerman took the "dead wings" and turned them into a three-time cup winning team. Messier deserves credit, but he won as a captain with the Oilers, who ruled that decade, and the Rangers, who weren't horrible either. I just think that what Yzerman did was more impressive.
