Unter dem Doppeladler (Under the Double Eagle)

"Under the Double Eagle (Unter dem Doppeladler)" is a march composed by Josef Franz Wagner (1856 1908). He was an Austrian military bandmaster and composer, sometimes known by the sobriquet 'The Austrian March King'. This march is referring to the double eagle in the coat of arms of the Austro-Hungarian empire.

I was probably four the first time I heard this march that I remember. My uncle, Ralph Sears Jr. was

working for American Airlines and was taking guitar lessons. One of the pieces he learned to play relly good was this "Under the Double Eagle".In WWI both the Austrian Army and the British Army marched off to war with this tune. It is wonderful.

also es gibt haufenweise original für sinfonieorchester komponierte märsche.. darunter ganz tolle wie den ägyptischen oder auch den persischen marsch von johann strauss II, radetzkymarsch, usw.
