This is was my HO scale Oolitic branch of the Milwaukee Road, set in June of 1966. This is an aerial tour of the layout. It was 15.5' long, 40" wide water-wing shape with a small peninsula at the end for the quarry. Oolitic, Indiana was known for its blocked limestone. The layout was torn out when we tried to sell our home. The house didn't sell (at least without giving it away.) The plan was to upgrade so that I could have a basement for my trains. I am currently building a new layout. Video on that later this year.

  • Oolitic, is your layout in Oolitic? I have a layout in Mitchell.

This layout was a loose interpretation of Oolitic, IN. The order of the scenes (trestle over the gorge, the mill, then the quarry) is based on the Milwaukee Road's branch line. I admit I haven't replicated any actual structures. I am doing the same basic thing on my current layout, except that it's a point-to-point switching layout. I do not live in Oolitic, although I would like to visit there sometime. I'm located in Fishers.

  • I cannot believe the detail. Great job.

  • I have a layout just down the road from Oolitic & we operate on Thursday night and thought if you lived in Oolitic you might join us.
