In an interview on Bloomberg Televisions Political Capital with Al Hunt, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) renewed the House GOPs call for reform that makes health care more affordable and accessible, rather than the Democrats costly government takeover of health care. Boehner also urged the President to send a stronger message to the Iranian regime by blocking imports of refined oil products into the country and expressed concerns with the Administrations financial regulation proposal, noting that it would allow the taxpayer-financed bailouts to continue. Finally, Boehner highlighted House Republicans better solutions on the stimulus, health care, energy, and other priorities for families and small businesses across the country.

  • another neo-con pushing for a war with Iran. Nice to demonize an entire group of people huh.

  • Mr. Boehner, how is Wall Steet working to fix the problem. Their whole system is crooked and corrupt. Take insider trading, it goes on all the time. Investigate !

  • If John Boehner runs for President, Former Republicans that turned independant this last election will come back. It will be a turning point for me.

  • All one has to see is how badly Gov't runs Medicare and Veterans Administration Health Care to RUN QUICKLY AWAY FROM ANY GOV"T HEALTH CARE.

Let the Market work. Get rid of Lawsuits, allow Pharmacies to have walk in clinics to cheaply and efficiently take care of most minor stuff Maybe set up a private health ins for this and than have another policy for Major Medical issues. This would be flexible and solve the health care issue.

Gov't is not the Solution they are the PROBLEM - Ronald Reagan

  • I truly believe health insurance companies will not perish if the public plan option is available. For example, besides having to adapt on a price level, health insurance companies can use the information they have (risk of patient falling ill) to selectively offer better deals to public plan customers who they think are low risk. Health insurance companies can also offer extended health care that covers what the basic plan doesn't cover (the same they do with medicare)

  • The public plan option can not be free. What the Lewin group report says (google it) is that if the public plan option is offered at the same level of delivery as the average health insurance policy, that 180.5 million people would switch; this estimate does not take into account the fact that health insurance companies would adapt. The scenario where 180.5 million people switch also results in 36.5% administrative cost savings for physicians.

  • onlyrey,

Of course USPS offers overnight --- I said if it were "free", do you think FedEx would be in business for very long?
