Major Gus Denver has returned to flight duty. On a previous mission he suffered a breakdown after the death of his first crew. Brigadier General Hoagland has just been assigned from the States. He is now the acting Wing Commander in the absence of Genl. Stoneman, but the job he really wants is 918th Group Commander. He tells Savage that he is out to get him. Major Denver overhears this.

Hoagland flies with Savage on a mission to Einhoven and on the way back the plane is hit by flak and two engines go out; Savage orders everyone to bail out. The engines start up again, only Hoagland makes it out and he is strafed by fighters and killed. There is an inquiry, and Major Denver asks to speak with the IG thinking that Savage engineered Hoagland's death.

If you like this series as much as I go over to www.12OclockHighTV.com for the highest quality DVDs. There will never be a "studio" version.

  • Robert Lansing was replaced by Paul Burke because Excecutive Producer Quinn Martin wanted a younger looking lead actor. Actually Burke was 2 yrs. older than Lansing. But Martin felt that Lansing had become difficult to work with. So Lansing was KIA in the last episode and replaced with Burke who remained the lead actor throughout the series. Thanks for the memories!

  • From 0;00 to 0:04 the music almost sounds like something from the original Star Trek.

  • I can barely recall this show from when I was a kid in the 60's. Lots of WWII-based shows then (Combat!, The Rat Patrol, Jericho, Hogan's Heroes, etc). I always liked the late great Robert Lansing....very underated & underused actor. THANK YOU for sharing this fascinatin' footage with us!

  • By the way...check episode 1.11 - "Here's to Courageous Cowards"...the same theme appears @ the start of that one as well...

Actually... that so-called "Enterprise fanfare" is used extensively in this series...another example is the "P.O.W." episode....

  • By George, you're right on! It seems obvious Courage ripped this theme off for STAR TREK. AMAZING!!

  • Sounds close to the "Courage fanfare"...

or...is it the other way around????
