HALF PASS at the 2006 ESDCTA Forum with Withages & Schmidt

The Eastern States Dressage and Combined Training Association held its 2006 Annual Forum in October in New Jersey. This forum featured Mariette Withages, Chair of the FEI Dressage Committee and "O" judge together with Hubertus Schmidt, German Dressage National Champion, Olympic rider, trainer and coach. In this session on the half pass, Schmidt works with Cesar Parra riding Furst Fabio, while Withages provides the comments on judging. all you need to do is keep your outside leg quite far behind the girth to support his/her quarters and ask him to bend so he is looking the way he is going and push him out also try imagining that he/she is wrapped round your inside leg!!

I really like how the spookiness is handled - they just go back to relaxing him instead of getting after the horse. Not treated as a big deal. Even upper level horses can still be horses sometimes. So nice to see correct riding.

Cesar Parra now owns 1/2 of Furst Fabio, he sold half of Furst Fabio to his new sponsors.
