Skating Calf Rescued From Frozen Pond

A calf stranded on a frozen pond has been carried to safety by the draught generated by a rescue helicopter The chopper flew above the terrified calf, as it tried in desperation to gain its footing on the Oklahoma pond.

The effects of the high wind from the helicopter's blades pushed the frightened animal across the ice.

But the temperatures were just at freezing, so the ice broke under the flailing hooves of the animal - but it was able to make it to dry land safely.

The calf received a welcome reception from people waiting by the shore.
