In a stony lair in Hyrcania, there lurks
an angry tigress; she hesitates, uncertain
whether to flee or await the hunter.

She longs to save herself from the arrow's thrust
but this would leave her offspring undefended.
She shudders and is assailed both by lust for blood
and fear for her young, but love triumphs.

@musiquephilosophe: The aria is written for the castrato Giovanni Carestini. J.A. Hasse said "He who has not heard Carestini is not acquainted with the most perfect style of singing."

Oh I know that of course that she will be there again, but unfortunatley I'm actually in London :/ That's very sad indeed...

But I hope, maybe I will able to hear Miss Genaux in Paris!!! xD

You mean Vivaldi's "Ercole..." in January in TCE Paris? I'll be unfortunately not able to make it. This year will be very hard anyhow without Vivica, as the queen of baroque bel canto will be all the time outside Europe. 2008 was better.

Joyce DiDonato is as well far away, I mean singing non-baroque :-((

If you go to Paris, tell me how it was. This "Ercole" will be an incredible agglomeration of superstars.
