Why do mainstream Christians find it an abomination that Yeshua and Mary were possibly married? I heard a preacher scream his lungs out once in anger over that notion and his hatred for the movie "Last Temptation of Christ". I had a youth pastor tell me that when that movie came out, he was ready to chain the doors of the theater so that people couldn't see it. He said he was almost arrested for attempting it. And GOOD, it would've been a crime and vandalizing property.
It's a real shame that MM didn't have a larger role. I can only imagine how Christianity would have been different if MM had been considered an apostle and a leading figure in the movement from the very beginning. From what little I know of the Bible, it seems the Jesus was considerably more open minded towards women than his own apostles.
@crucisnh its probable that the male apostles said little about her to protect her. on the other hand the misogynistic climate or view has more truth, unfortunately. thanks for your reply.
@catwomanFL72 There could be a number of reasons the standard bible doesn't mention a greater role for Mary Magdalene, some that seem contradictory. One, the apostles could have been somewhat misogynist and didn't want to play up the role of a "mere" woman. Two, if one were to accept the theory that JC and MM were married, perhaps the Apostles writing the gospels were trying to protect MM by saying little about her. Who's to know what the truth is at this point?
Peter was'nt the leader of the disciples. he was an 'ignorant hothead' sometimes a coward who denied Jesus three times. that does not sound like something the true leader of the would do.
"the Savior loved her more than all the other disciples." "he kissed her on her 'mouth' many times." why don't Steven just say that Magdalene was a disciple? why was this not included in the Bible. read between the lines, there is no text that said Jesus kissed any of his other disciples.
