She turns them all the way down - I don't buy that. The fact that this sounds exactly like the record tells me it's miming.

if you played guitar you'd understand.... she turns the volume down a little and probably the treble too...... they play with distortion but turn it down the smooth it out a little

She turns down her guitar volume so that she doesn't over power the lead guitar and the tone so she doesn't cut through that same frequency as him, tonal diversity is essential in bands with only one or two non-percussive instruments. Plus you can tell this is live because the guitar tones are much less dry and fuzzy than on the record, this because he only uses a couple Proco Rats for Distortion on stage.
