Hahaha ... That means nothing realy in French, he is singing something like :"(the) lost love is constable and everybody is all and all, with the reason to be shit, si si(?), but how are you? and the water is the same Vous m'aimez, and I adore you and nous aussi, Look at me you ??? , Always the love and thank you very much"

The lips are fabulous! There's a limit to what talented makeup professionals can do with those eyebrows, though.

Neil's the splitting image of Marianne Faithfull

Man, Neil just...straight-up steals the scene here.
I have to wonder, though, did they really play the instruments from the beginning (doubtful), did they learn the chords for the show (more likely), or did they just mime with the tune dubbed over? Hm.

@Sylphide123 How cool you have that great memory! Did Neil have a lot of girl fans like you back then in the UK? Was he in teen magazines or anything like that?

that is the whole point--like madelein kahn spoofing dietrich

Henry Woolf's deadly serious expression kills me. The director of RWT sadly went on to helm one of the biggest flops of the BBC's history, the short-lived series 'Jane' based on the Daily Mirror's comic strip, complete with eyeball-searing overuse of chromakey and 'comedy' sound effects.

*dazes into a drean*ahem what.

Neil was my idol all through school in the 1970's. Then he came to our university to go a gig around 1978. I got to meet him backstage - I was the only fan who did! He was really serious (maybe a bit nervous before the gig?)and he shook my hand and took quite a few minutes time to speak to me. I think I was probably just staring and not talking coherently! I can remember that I did't wash my hand for about 2 days.
