I'm settling in and love the Bay Area!

It took me 3 months to make the move, sell all my wordly items and leave Minneapolis after living there 26 years. I'm happy to say this weekend I will be moving into my apartment after staying in a sublet since arriving.

I've been living in SOMA but will now reside in the Mission District. It is full of young folks like myself, food and lots of stuff to do! I've already been to a few of the burrito places, Bi-Rite Creamery twice and Delores Park for movie night.

So excited!

I am also glad to hear that sharing my journey of this move halfway across the U.S. has helped people. That makes me sooooo happy!

I wish I had moved to San Francisco sooner but we cannot regret past decisions. Only act in the moment and create goals for the future *smile*.

Everything has gone smoother than expected and I'm sure grateful! Even to find out there are tons of Bacon eating Jews here in the Bay Area is a huge relief!

Yes my laptop died when I got here but I had Mozy doing online backups.

Yes, I have to get used to working in an office again but I really dig Zendesk as a company.

Yes, I've been missing my pets but now Bluey is here and I got to see Turtle my cat this week and knowing we'll all be together soon makes me feel like it's the holidays in May!

As I get settled in, I will return to talking more about tech again.

If you have any questions about the move, feel free to email me adria@butyoureagirl.com

  • hey I got a job offer out there for $68k.. my questions is, is that a descent income to have in san fran given the fact that the cost of living is way higher there compared to Washington DC?

  • @jordan4air It depends what you think is "decent". Get roommates. You can find a share for between 1k and fifteen hundred a month. Sell your car.

  • @adriarichards wats ur twiiter name?

  • great video. I love the shirt and your hair is lovely. i actually wrote a few blog post regarding natural hair, anyway... i may be moving to SF due to a job promotion. I know no one there, nor have I ever been there. Can you recommend some decent living areas that aren't too pricey? is everyone doing the roommate thing?

  • @WsupTony Thanks! I didn't know anyone either but have started making some really good friendships.

The Mission is a good place to live. Roommates let you have more room, although shared. I have two of them. ALL OF SAN FRANCISCO is pricy. You can expect to pay at least $1,100 for a tiny studio and $1,500 for a one bedroom by yourself. Live in Oakland or Daly City if you want to pay a few hundred less.

  • @HunneeRose im planning the same thing!

  • I want to move to S.F from N.Y...any advice?

  • Hello adria! I am in the planning phases of moving to San Francisco and I came across your video. So I would like to know how much did you move there with once you moved there.....

    From Running Away at 25!

  • Really appreciate the video, I've been pretty nervous about making this move myself and this gave me some hope. I'm curious about how far out one can survive without a car since I would love to ditch mine. I'm looking at jobs that could be anywhere between Emeryville to Redwood City; I just don't know where I'll end up yet.

  • California / their city and some small towns are not for everybody , everybody has likes and dislikes
