Best handheld game I have ever owned. Altered Beast and Astro Warrior would be better if it didn't cramp the hands so badly. My favorite games on them are Columns and dragon Crystal, both taken from the Master System collection. I really don't know why I haven't covered this until now. Best thing in my collection!

  • I don't understand why they would brand the device with the Coleco brand-name, Coleco have nothing to do with Sega and never have as far as I know, plus, I thought Coleco went out of business and bankrupt in the very late 80's.

  • @Lachlant1984 As a business they never stopped or got bought by someone else, but they never did produce any first-party titles, that's for sure. You can search for coleco inc and find them, they do still exist and are trying to live on what they made so many years ago. But this device is a mystery to me, too; they must have gotten a license or something from Sega or AtGames.

  • @Lachlant1984 Still a mystery to me too, but it seems it was for sale at Christmas time a few years ago for that time only-- can't find any of them outside of China made on-demand. It seems Coleco has stayed up as a publisher (even looking for indie developers!) since then. It's wwwDOTcolecoDOTcom (typed funny to avoid getting the youtube block)

  • So it has a Coleco label, but Sega Master System games on it?

  • @bruceclarkemexico Right, it was made by AtGames for Coleco, they make their own brabded stuff, too, but this one is Coleco. I posted this 2 years ago and still have it and play it.

  • @nathanallan1 Yeah thanks, it seems as if Coleco are making iPad games now, I had a really quick look on their site, they also talk about something called the RetroVault which sounds interesting, but that part of the site's not up yet, so we can only wait and see what happens I guess. This really mystifies me.

  • @nathanallan1 Interesting, I assume this unit is in fact made by ATGames in China as most of them are, I just find it interesting that Coleco would put their name on it, I take it the unit doesn't feature any ColecoVision games, nor do I understand how they've managed to stay in business as you seem to suggest for so long, I mean I understand the ColecoVision came out in around 1982 or something, so how have they been earning money to stay afloat? Maybe Coleco distribute the units in America.

  • My mom bought me this for my birthday like 3 years ago. I still love it.

  • @nathanallan1 Thank you. I love Sega and will probably join. I've looked at the Gopher thread on the forum and it seems it's a MD-only compatible handheld?

  • @jbmaru There is one out now, called the Gopher, and it has an SD card reader in it. Search for that one, hope yu find it. Oh, and join sega-16 forums, you will stay informed to anything Sega. Those guys rock.
