THIS DVD IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE ON DANCECLASSMUSIC.COM. (It is temporarily out of print.) Beginning pointe class for ballet by Stephanie Marini and Allan Greene. This DVD contains video footage of many exercises used in a beginning pointe class. Stephanie uses several young dancers to demonstrate each exercise. This is the examination class she uses to determine if a dancer is ready to go on pointe. She also discusses many of the problems and issues concerning pointe work with Samara Dimattia, a physical therapist trained in dance injuries.

  • God is not prejudiced but He does operate in wisdom. you don't have to dance for 18 years to learn pointe but you do have to have a foundation. no man builds a house on a weak foundation. if you are not strong you will get injured.

  • How can you handle pointe if you've done no ballet. I'm not saying you can't be talented but jesus. Take it easy.

A culinary master must first master pb & j.

  • @iluv2dnc10 well i guess that works for you ,but a strong foundation can only be done that way

  • they are second class meaning entermidete they are at least 12

  • Excellent public relations video and advertising tool.

Unlike the vast majority of similar promotional videos, this one is inviting, warm, and sincere.

Technically speaking, the video is perfectly clear whereas the vast majority of similar videos are blurry, suggesting to viewers excellence is not important.

    Excellent lighting.

    Dancers are clearly visible.

Please star in new Youtube videos soon!

    Thank you!

  • loved it

  • Lol wow for that sems easy to me and i just got done with my 1st year of pointe! we were doing more than that!! well not the 1st 2 lessons lol we just were puting on mole skin and learning to tie them then we were learning to walk across the floor lol.

  • kewl

  • If you are strong, and plie with knees over the toes, turn out, stretch, pointe through the foot, you will be fine. You can tell your mother that you are much more likely to break your leg by landing without a plie or without going through your foot after a jump.

  • In the Vaganova syllabus, pointe is in the second half of the first year. However, they start no earlier than age 10 in the first year, and classes are every day, and the beginning pointe exercises do not start with assembles but only simpler exercises like releves and echappes and pas suivi. Also, pointe is only for a few minutes at the end of class. Dancers are auditioned before entering the first year to make sure their legs are strong. Amateurs must wait until the legs are strong.

  • Completely agree with you 29psalm. rardances, I'm sorry but its completely impossible to do pointe work without the proper tuition beforehand. I'm not saying that there aren't people who need less tuition than others, but no decent dance school will let a girl start pointe without a good few years demipointe/softshoe work, normally at least 6.

  • Everyone I know who does pointe, they don't have messed up feet.
