Foul Play explores the controversy surrounding the uses of metal and other non-wood bats in Little League baseball. For years, there have been claims that metal bats hit balls significantly harder than wooden bats, even to a dangerous extent. These dangers are no more apparent than to Little League pitchers, who stand only 45 feet away from home plate. The complete story and the science behind the headlines are examined on Foul Play.

Foul Play is a multi-part exclusive CPBN- Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network web series.

  • I have been involved in baseball for over 30 years, including playing professionally for 17 years. Aluminum bats are dangerous and should not be allowed in little league. I have done a lot of research along with other professionals and we have found that the ball leaves an aluminum bat at a much higher rate of speed than a wooden bat. Kids do not have the coordination to respond to such changes and are at great danger for serious injury or death.

  • my friend was put in a coma and was on the verge of death when he got hit in the head by a line drive off a metal bat. the switch to wood is so much safer and so incredibly easy.

  • @JustGoSka3 you must suck if u need a metal bat t have pop

  • HA gayyyyyy

  • like really is this fox news or something?

  • thats bull shit take away my pop bc kids cant cetch the fuckin ball. fuck bb core

  • Boo fucking hoo. You got a glove on that hand, learn to use it.

  • whether u use a metal bat or wood bat, the kids gonna get hit in the face by a baseball at a high speed. just matter how fast

  • well, ur stupid

  • i have played baseball for 17 years and i have yet to see anyone catch a baseball with their face unless they misjudge a pop up. If anyone should not be able to use a metal bat it should be gradeschoolers but then they wouldnt be able to hit the ball.
