No don't put it on the walls. It will take the paint off. These kits are pretty easy to install. However you might practicing taking the paper off the double sided tape before beginning as I had a hard tim with it. I just finished doingtwo windows and will post back after winter to give you my opinion on if it was worth it..........
I'm guessing no. As long is there is caulk around the outer most part of the window, place the two sided tape (and plastic wrap shit), on the window frame! I'd think its not supposed to be on the paint on your walls?? Not sue.. just guessing!!

how does it work if the window has sills on the bottom? do you go over the sill or above it?
