This is a version of Summertime by Northern Irish 70s band, Light, from their Album Mint 11.

The song and its copyright belong to the band, so if you like it please buy it. That said, I have searched high and low for a copy to download or buy physically and could find it anywhere, not even through Jim Armstrong's web-site, so it seems to be a pretty rare beast. So this has been brought over from vinyl (hence some of the lack of sound quality!).

The images are mine, just taken on my 'phone whilst walking along the North Down coast. This is my first ever attempt to make and upload a video / slide-show, so it's fairly basic - play nice!

  • Follow the link on the right here ---> to the video entitled "Jim Armstrong Summertime". It's a totally ACE live version. Thanks to Sanied606 for posting.

  • Hi There. i have the album on cd

  • @shizermonkey Where'd you get it on CD? I couldn't find it *anywhere* - hence having to burn a copy from the original vinyl (which is why this is a bit crackly in places!). I'd buy the CD on the basis of this song alone.....

  • iv got cd of jim armstrongs light, live in the pound club. tracks layla, iv been working, purple haze. about 50mins worth. great days at the pound.

  • Just wanna add there is another version of this under "Jim Armstrong Band" from a live gig in Pats Bar so take a listen, it's good....

  • Its been about 35 years since I was last in the Pound Club but this is a sound I will never forget. Roddys' bar was a real dive and the toilets were goddam awful but the music was sent from heaven. The place couldn't have held more'n a hundred people but what an atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon. Absolutely Brill. Armstrong played support under diff names on a regular basis for big names visiting Belfast and always did Gloria. Is a live upload of it available? Love to hear it again Ty Ty Ty.

  • Jim Armstrong will be playing at Malone Rugby Club on 13th August with 'Light', then doing two sets at 'The Longfellows Bar' on Sunday 14th. Afternoon gig with Kenny McDowell then an evening session with 'Taste'. Tickets are going fast - (not suprising at six quid a pop) contact 'Longfellows Bar'
