Ch. 2 Part 8

"Aloha, my name is Nohelani and I will be serving you folks tonight. Would you like something to drink?" the perky waitress asked. Kevin spoke first.
"Coke, please."
Then Joe, "Lemonade". The waitress gave him a flirty smile. Joe smiled back politely. Maya went next.
"PINK Lemonade, please," She said smirking at Joe, who rolled his eyes, smiling.
"Diet Coke," Nick said when the waitress looked at him.
"Same," Rylee muttered.
"Alrighty. Any pupus?" Nohelani asked.
"Pardon?" Kevin asked.
"Appetizers," Rylee told him.
Everyone went 'Oh'
"What do you guys want?" Kevin asked everyone.
"The Poke Rolls. It says its Hawaiis favorite pupu," Joe said, holding back a chuckle.
"Rylee, are you okay with that?" Kevin asked.
"Um, doesnt matter. Whatever you guys like," she said quietly.
Kevin ordered the Poke Rolls and the Shrimp Cocktail, from Joe's request. The waitress went off, stealing another flirtatious glance at Joe.
"Gross," Rylee muttered to herself. Nick heard and smiled. The 5 of them began conversation.

Seating order: Kevin on the end on one side, then Joe next to him. The other side had Rylee sitting at the end, then Nick, then Maya.

"So Rylee, why such the interesting spelling?" Kevin asked.
"Uh, my parents wanted an original spelling, I guess," she said. Then she muttered, "Or they were drunk." Nick heard this also and cracked a grin.
"So, how old are you again?" Joe asked.
"15. 16 on the 24th," She said.
"Sweet," Joe said, with a cheesy grin.
Rylee nodded then muttered, "Corny."
Nick yet again heard and hid his quiet chuckle behind his menu. Rylee heard and peered up at him with narrowed eyes, wondering if he heard her. He just continued looking at the menu.
"Where do you go to school?" Kevin asked.
"St. Francis," she said.
"Hmm. Do you know what you want to eat?" he asked her.
"Yup."
"How's working at Starbucks?"
"Horrible," she answered truthfully. Everyone else held back a laugh.
"Hows school? Do you like it there?"
"Yeah."
"How many brothers and sisters do you have?"
"One of each."
"Older or younger?"
"Both older."
"Whats it like to live in Hawaii?"
"Fine, I guess."
"What's there to do around here?"
"What is this? 20 questions?" she muttered, incredulously.

Nick was going to tell Kevin to can-it but the waitress came. He noticed Rylee sigh, relieved probably.
"Here you are. Coke, Lemonade," she gave Joe yet another flirtatious smile which made Rylee roll her eyes and Nick laugh slightly. "Pink Lemonade and two Diet Cokes," she finished. Rylee muttered a quick thanks and took a sip-as did Nick.
Nohelani placed the pupus down on the table and grabbed hold of her pen and pad.
"What will you all like for the main course?" she asked. Kevin again went first.
"Hmmm, I'll have.." -pause- "..the steak and shrimp."
Then Maya, "Shrimp Scampi!" she said perkily.
Joe, "Baby Back Pork Ribs," he said licking his lips.
Rylee, "The sirloin- medium rare please," she muttered.
Nick smiled, raising his eyebrows slightly. "Same." Rylee narrowed her eyes at him once again.
"Okay, that will be about 15 to 20 minutes? Max- 30," the waitress said, gleaming a 100-whatt smile at, whom else but, Joe. He nodded then turned back to Maya. Rylee was afraid of answering any more of Kevins psychotic questions so she nibbled on the shrimp from the cocktail. She didnt want to lose her appetite so she stopped then got in a conversation with Maya through behind Nick's back. She could feel Joe watching her, obviously ignoring whatever it was that Kevin was saying to him and Nick. It got uncomfortable so she excused herself to the bathroom. Maya politely followed.

"What's with girls and going to the bathroom together?" Joe asked.
Nick rolled his eyes while Kevin just shook his head at his brother.

With Rylee and Maya-

"So youre the chick Nick wanted to know about. Interesting."
"Why do you say that?" Rylee asked coolly as she sat down on the bathroom floor. Maya made a face then sat on the sink counter.
"Nothing by it. Just he's never, ya know, been interested in girls as much as he has been with you."
"Saying he was gay?"
"No. No, definitely not. Just saying that from that one time experience with you he's never forgotten about you."
Rylee contemplated over this. "Im sorry I did that to him.." she mumbled.
"It's actually fine. He needs smore spunk in his life and I can tell you have it."
Rylee looked at her quizzically, "You hardly know me," she said.
"From the comments you made when Kevin was on a roll, you made Nick smile."
"All I said was like, fine, yup, and yeah. How does that make /anyone/ smile?"
"Not your answers-your /comments/." Maya hopped off the counter, winked back at Rylee, then left to the table of the Joni.

'Shes one strange chick,' Rylee thought.
She groaned as she got herself up. This was gunna be some fun night.
