Learn how to track a 2d object and apply 3d motion to a model in PFtrack!

This video is to learn the PFtrack aspect of the compositing pipeline. I don't delve too much into the After Effects and 3ds Max parts. If you do find yourself needing help, I suggest learning a little more about 3ds Max or After Effects before attempting this.

3ds Max
After Effects CS5

Stay tuned for the Resistance episode 3 updates! It's on its way.

  • Indeed, the tutorial seems to be more about what you're not going to show than what you are. What's the point of showing how to navigate to a background file and click "open" but then not show how that file can actually be matched to the model? Who needs to learn "how to open files"...?

By the way, the main problem in Max was that you forgot to enable the safe frame to scale the viewport background to the correct aspect ratio.

  • @RFC3514 Thanks for the tip! Love learning anyway I can. I'll keep your notes in mind for the next tutorial!

  • Dude, Upload tutorial means tell us in specific detail " I am not gonna tell you how to that " how many times you said in this video. Then whats the purpose of learning

  • @Harry8hk As stated, this is an instructional on PFtrack, just to get you started. Delving into the 3ds Max and After Effects parts would be rigorous and by the time you finish the video... Well frankly most people wouldn't finish the video. I can, if you would like and if enough people request it, show you how to composite it together, but it is a fairly easy affair. If you would like more instruction, send me a message. I will try and help you with any questions you may have :D

    Thanks!

  • @Waywardson256 I assure you that there would be many people who would watch a full length tutorial explaining how to do this, going into depth in all of the tutorials. I'm not saying this is a bad tutorial, it isn't, but people will watch long, in depth tutorials. Just look at Andrew Kramer's tutorials on videocopilot, those tutorials get to be about an hour long sometimes, but people still watch them.

  • @randOmazing I'll keep that in mind! Thanks :D
