Hungerford Massacre part 2

The Hungerford massacre occurred in Hungerford, Berkshire, England, on August 19, 1987. A 27-year-old unemployed local labourer, Michael Robert Ryan, armed with two semi-automatic rifles and a handgun, shot and killed sixteen people including his mother, and wounded fifteen others, then fatally shot himself.

A man stands in front of you with a rifle. He starts to shoot at you and your daughter. You hear bullets hitting the car and your windscreen shatters. Your daughter cries out that she's been shot. Your reply. "don't be stupid'. That's what we call in England 'PLEB LOGIC'.

@AmberTrystan He meant that as a trained-soldier,who was trained in how to fire semi-automatic & automatic weapons,he could tell the difference,from the sound of gun would have,gun fire from shotguns & some rifles (both semi-auto & bolt:-),by farmers shooting pests in fields or pest controllers,dispatching vermin.He heard semi-automatic gun fire,in quick successions,closeby& couldssume no pests were being shot.Also there was no outdoor rifle ranges there,so it seemed unusual.

Personally, I probably wouldn't argue with them. That said I used to live in America, where being shot isn't as unlikely as it is in England, so maybe you're right.
