Make commentaries? Voice guide videos? Learn how to get clean audio no annoying static or hum.

Steps:
Download and install Audacity
Create sound file (.wav or .mp3 usually) of the audio you want filtered.
Import that into Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
Highlight a portion of sound that is almost 100% pure background noise (best to record this in when you're recording) and then go to effects then noise removal.
Hit "get profile".
Highlight the entire track, then go back to effects then noise removal.
Adjust bar and hit preview until most of background audio is removed. Hit okay.
Export the sound, insert into editor.

  • Help!! I'm trying to convert an old mix cassette tape with TsirTech Tape to Digital usb converter (like using an old Sony Walkman) and I have 2 problems. #1) volume is low and #2) there's a constant hiss/hum in the background. What should I try first, remove the noise and then raise the volume? Or vice versa?

  • @MaineCoon01 Raise volume but make sure it isn't too high (etc loud points in the music aren't loud) then remove background.

  • ArmadylGodSwordsmen, please help: my Preview is NOT working, it works with NO sound and after noise removal audio is with same noise.

  • @asderso Idk man sorry just make sure you highlight the right parts and all.

  • can you use this for recorded singing?

  • @cajesascovers Yes but I strongly recommend just a better microphone/computer/recording environment if you are doing that.

  • Another really good trick to clear up your mic is to yes put a sock over it. It doesn't remove background noise but it makes it cleaner.

  • Excellent tutorial mate! Very brief and informative, worked for me, thanks!

  • Thanks sooo much, my laptop fan is so loud this helped out a lot :)
