Hey Marty, I agree with all that you said about him. I grew up in Queens and went to Bryant High in Astoria, class of 1957. Went to many of the great Alan Freed Shows at the Brooklyn Paramount and a devoted fan of the doo wop era, still today.... I was fortunate to see Johnny live in a performance at Cohasset Music Circus in Massachusetts many years ago. A sad day when he passed.

Hi! My name is John "Marty" Trautman, co-founder & member of a New York City doo-wop group known as "The Chevrons". Johnny & I were schoolmates at C.E. Hughes H.S. on 18th Street in Manhattan. Johnny graduated in '56 & I in '57. Many times I would walk into the bathroom to hear Johnny & a few guys doo-woppin'. Those were the days! In my opinion, Johnny was the GREATEST LEAD SINGER in the doo-wop era! The Lord took him home, but we still have the pleasure of listening to his golden voice. AMEN

Frank Sinatra called Tony Bennett "the voice", I guess Old Blue Eyes never heard Johny Maestro.
