Don't scratch on dance music. Find a nice hip hop beat, to start with. Dancing is too linear to find great patterns in the beat (unless you are qbert lol) You should watch DJ qberts "do it yourself scratching", to learn some of the basic scratches.

A few quick issues. One, I own two numark 1625s, and they suck. Hands down the lowest torque on any turntable sold with DJing in mind. Not only are they low torque to start with, they overheat easily, causing a further loss in torque. Two, all you were doing, was cue scratching an instrumental, over top of the same instrumental. That's great for beat juggling, but you should walk before you run. Find an accapella to use as a scratch sentence, of you don't own a break record. 3, Don't scratch on
