Shooting one of my 7.62x39mm Romanian AK clones (WASR).

(ETA: For the record, I have since stopped using the magazine as a grip...more control if you use the handguards).

(ETA2: For all those asking about the refinished furniture= I cleaned/degreased the wood, sanded it, and then applied a couple coats of red tinted wood stain (I used Varathane "Cabernet"). I then topped it off with a few coats of shellac (Zinsser "Amber Shellac"), and what you see is how it came out. Used 000 steel wool between every coat as well.

It's not that hard to do. Materials will only cost about $10. I just used old cut up t-shirts for rags.)

  • my sight post came centered :D

and im working on my furniture right now, degreased, sanded and applied the first coat of minwax Mahogany Red last night. i got up this morning however and it is still drying. is this usual? or did i not sand enough? i also left it outside last night to dry, i made sure it was going to be a nice night, but maybe the humidity is causing it to dry slower? you have any ideas man? this is the first time ive ever refinished anything '_'

  • @shinypinknails I think if it has been sitting overnight you should be able to apply a second coat of stain. While I'm no expert, from my limited experience I think letting the shellac dry completely is much more important. If you applied the stain fairly thick it may take a while to dry- who knows, it might already be as dark as you like it with one thick coat. I used some steel wool and lightly rubbed down the stock after staining and each coat of shellac to get rid of any runs or streaks.
