@deathfromabove77 Of course you wouldn't because that would be stupid.There are less opportunities for women AND for racial minorities. Also there are more men in the business period so to see yourself, to project yourself as a director must be harder for a woman or for a non-white person because who do you see as role models for directors around you? Again: white men. The issue is much more complicated that you make it out to be.

@deathfromabove77 If only things were that simple. It's amazing that you're completely dismissing the fact that there's a gender structure in the movie business. Who's at the head of the studios? Who decides ultimately who will get the money and who won't? That's right: white men. Therefore, women will get less opportunity to direct movies or to get financing. Also replace "women" by "black". Would you say that black directors should just get off their asses and make movies?

@haleyvickers : who's stopping females making films in hollywood?..get over yourself..what you should be saying is "hollywood needs GOOD female directors"..don't be another feminist crybaby trying to turn art into a gender war...if females (and I'm assuming you are one) want more hollywood directors, then they need to get off their asses and make films!..just like the boys do
