Story and song from the great Dana Lyons, who was my guest for a show in May 2003, on Flirt FM 101.3, in NUI, Galway, Ireland.

This was the first of four songs he performed for us that day, and as he was playing this, a crowd spontaneously appeared in the second studio as all the other staff and presenters in the building crowded in to watch through the glass!

A true-blooded folk performer and born story-teller, Dana is a must-see if he's playing in your neighbourhood.

Find his music, photos, tour dates, and buy one of his invariably priceless t-shirts on www.cowswithguns.com *

*(Yes, he's the man behind the bovine epic Cows With Guns, but I didn't have the heart to ask him to sing it, after 4 years of touring it...)

  • Fast-forward to 3:00 to listen to just the song. I wish there was an album version of this somewhere on youtube. Thanks for the upload anyhow.

  • @TheHannahBurger Fair point. I've been meaning to split the interview and song, but haven't gotten around to that yet. I will, though. I've got another few songs he did with me that day - some really nice versions too - Drop of Water, in particular.

  • @TheHannahBurger I won't be putting his album versions up - but go to his site, and send him an email ordering him to get a youtube account! And tell him I sent you! He's got so many great tracks that would work really well on youtube... In the mean time, if you go to that CD's page on his site, you'll find you can listen the entire album version. Hope that helps!

  • Thank you for the post. It's been said protest songs aren't written anymore. Not true. It's just that they're censored by today's corporate media.
