2009 Chicago Air & Water Show freestyle close call.

The drama unfolded in a life and death situation during the Sunday Freestyle jet ski performance by Team Twangled. Kyle Burtka was captured on tape at the moment of impact, disabling his ski and pulling him under as he struggled to maintain control of the disabled ski. Teammate Michael Niksic pulled Kyle out of harms way before kyle was overcome completely by 3 foot wakes and a frigid water temperature in Lake Michigan. The boat captains, Coast Guard, Life Guard and Fire Dept. Marine units swiftly supported and completed the rescue within several minutes. Burtka made a full recovery and also recovered his ski that afternoon, which was running the next day!
