For this year's celebratory brew, we decided to focus on the characteristics that certain yeasts bring to the party. Each of the five Belgian yeasts selected adds its own unique aspect to the flavor and aroma of this saison. The hefty addition of rye helps dry this beauty out and lends another spicy component to the flavor. And for added fun, we subtly dry-hopped it, too! Brewed with malted barley, imported malted rye, imported specialty malts, hops and a blend of five Belgian yeast strains.

  • 5 Belgian yeast strains? Dang, I had no idea. I had this when I was w/ Ryan at Stone. It was very nice.

  • @BeerichiTuba Yep, I think some of them get lost in there but for me this beer was a bit too heavy for a Saison

  • I don't think I've ever really had a Saison, what are three or so brews that are good examples of the style?

  • @DireAxis If you havent had one I would skip this beer. I would go with Ommegangs Hennepin or Boulevards Tank 7 for amazing American saisons.

  • I liked this one, but the mouthfeel was a tad too heavy for the style.

  • @CBABitz Yeah this was a really heavy feeling saison for sure.

  • Nice man, inspirational, thanks, greetings from Chile

  • @StumpyJoeJr Yeah it was just missing something to be an A beer. Im thinking if it was a bit hoppier i would help the feel of the beer.

  • @mrmuyrapido hahaha yeah I was wondering who would spot that. Her name is Arwen haha

  • kitty!

  • I like rye in saisons. I put a bit of it my homebrew saison but next time I'm going to add more. I thought it was good but not 'A' material. I have another bottle in my fridge for reviewing I need to get to.
