  • Hello,

Can you please tell me: is this the same Wendy Craig from "Butterflies?"

And is this recording off an LP? I'd be grateful if you could tell me the title as I still have my turntable. :)

  • Yup, sure is, same Wendy Craig. The LP is called 'Bedtime Stories and Lullabies', 1973. It as hot off the press when I was listening to it! :)

  • as far as im concerned my mum reads it the best lol

  • aww, lovely - that's the kind of comment that's always nice to hear :)

  • The definitive version of this song was sung by Cass Elliot. She sang like an angel.

  • I was so intrigued by this I've hunted down a recording of the same... look out for update when it arrives through the post! Never heard of Cass Elliot before, she really does have an absolutely amazing voice. Can't wait!

  • @plaetoe I couldn't agree more. Happened to come across it on a mama's and Papa's set of CD's. My favourite song.

  • My mom used to sing this too me to fall asleep. I wish she still sang to me I muss being little

  • Thank you so much for this! I've loved this poem all my life, and have been looking for a good tune for decades. There are lots of tunes for it out there, but the others don't sound very natural. I used to sing it to my kids, thirty years ago, to a tune I got from a completely different song. But I like this one better.

  • wow. i'm stoned.

  • My mom used to sing this to me and my brother. I almost forgot what fairy tales and such were like. :')

  • oh i would love a copy of this...especially when she reads rumplestiltskin.......give me the baby !!

  • OH MY FAVE!!!! TEARY EYED NOW

  • Very nice, but I like it by Fred Penner better. Though I can't find the one by him.

  • @MsTommyknocker I know what you mean, I loved the way Mrs. Wilson told it. Her way and accent were just perfect.

  • I was read this when I was a child and I will continue to tell it to my children.
