The Islamic Republic of Iran successfully launches its second satellite christened Rasad (Observation) into the earth's orbit.

iran has global sanctions against them, you really think their suicidal and depend on countries such as US who are their sworn enemies? clearly you must have been sleeping in your history classes, becauase iran overthrew the dictator shah which was tailored for ONLY american interests, thus then that was the whole point of revolution and ever since then (sanctions building up) iran had to rely on its self, they might be far away from having modern tech but thier on their course.

@ahriman46 Exactly. Satellites in the past with similar capabilities would have weighed close to 500 kilos or more, and taken far more resources (And money) to launch, and monitor.

@informationc Wait a second...Many more countries have this technology or at least the infrastructure to build rockets and sattelite launchers but they don't do that because they can relay on other countries which has mastered the technology already to do it for them at a lower price. But totalitarist governments such as Islamic repulic constantly endeavour to aquire such fancy technologies to show off their hegemony (to less educated people ofcourse).
