cool idea..I think the belt may be a little too short, try to get it higher up in the larger drive pulley then watch it fly. You should inspect the pin that is securing the outer aluminum cup with 3 little plastic bushings on the outer part of the shaft. It is under a spring too. If it is sheared off becarefull not to damage the holes in the cup when removing the old pin material. I suggest a belt off of a 79' citation 300 or 74'-79' Elan ski doo.
