That's just because you already have gained speed when you accelerate, so you're going with the same speed as the bus. And when you jump you're going forward with the same speed as the bus, you do slow down a bit but that's not enough to get you significantly a few meters backwards in comparison too the bus.

The moon illusion is stronger the further the references (Buildings, trees, ect.) are from you. If you stand 10 meters from a house as the full moon rises over it will seem much smaller than it would rising over houses 100 meters away. Your brain sees a common object and measures the moon against it
