The Fortress of Louisbourg, located at the southeast shore of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, was begun as a French stronghold and seaport in 1713. By 1760 it was held by English forces and the fortifications were destroyed. Today's visitor to the Fortress is transported back to 1744 in the largest historic reconstruction in North America, a national historic site of Canada. This video was shot on a small pocket camcorder. For more information, see www.pc.gc.ca/louisbourg.
Thanks so much for this! I'm reading Another Shore, by Nancy Bond, and needed a clearer sense of the place. My daughter worked at Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts, and the comparison is interesting
